PURPOSE:To obtain powdered caking coke having improved combustion rate, combustion efficiency, air permeability, yield, etc., by adding water to a mixture of specific powdered coke with cement, rolling and granulating the resultant mixture, curing the resultant granular material, and disintegrating the cured granular material by drop impact. CONSTITUTION:(A) Powdered coke consisting of <=16% grains having <=3mm. grain size and 20-37% grains having <=0.25mm. grain size is mixed with (B) 5- 10% (inner percentage) high early strength cement or Portland cement, and (C) 2-7% (inner percentage) water is then added thereto. The resultant mixture is then rolled and granulated to give a granular material, which is then cured for 1-2 days or more and disintegrated by drop impact to afford the aimed powdered caking coke having 0.25-3.0mm. size. EFFECT:Improved caking properties, e.g. reduction powdering index, FeO and NOx conversion, etc.
