PURPOSE:To attain to enhance product quality by preliminarily inspecting the cooling capacity of a cooling box, by a method wherein a heated fluid is flowed through a cooling flowline and the temp. distribution of a mold surface is measured during the flowing period while the flowline state in each cooling flowline is known by the temp. distribution. CONSTITUTION:A continuous casting mold 1 is constituted by assembling a pair of long sided cooling boxes 2, 2 and a pair of short sided cooling boxes 3, 3 so as to mutually oppose both of them and the inner surface thereof forms a mold surface. Copper plates 5 are assembled and fixed to the opposed surfaces of the box bodies 4. Water supply pipes 6 are passed through a large number of cooling water passages 16 parallelly connected to the inner sides of the box bodies 4 from the direction same to the cooling water supply direction to measure the temp. distribution of the mold surface while flowing the high temp. fluid such as high temp. steam. The flowline state of each cooling passage 16 is judged from this temp. distribution. As mentioned above, cooling capacity is preliminarily inspected to constitute a mold body from the cooling boxes each having a good cooling flowline state and product quality is enhanced. |
