发明名称 Improvements in and relating to blowpipes
摘要 806,574. Gas burners. RIDER, T. R. Aug. 17, 1956, No. 23758/55. Class 75(1) A blowpipe comprises a member 38, Fig. 5, having formed thereon or attached thereto a plurality of gas nozzles 39 of different bore diameters, and a device 40 for actuating the nozzle member 38 to bring a selected nozzle into an operative position in which the nozzle is either inserted into or located around the mouth of a gas mixture discharge tube 17 in a gas tight manner. The nozzle member 38 is also provided with a gap through which the mixture discharge tube 17 may project. The actuating device 40 comprises a spindle brazed to the nozzle member 38 andslidable through holes in lugs 30, 31 on the discharge tube 17. A compression spring 41 is located between nuts 44, 45 on the free end of the spindle and the lug 31 and is encased in a sleeve 42 adapted to telescope in a tube 43 mounted on the lug 31. In a modification the lugs 30, 31 have grooves instead of holes and the spindle is held in the grooves by blade springs secured by studs to the lugs. Fig. 7 (not shown) shows nozzles having either tapered or part spherical outer surfaces for fitting into the mouth of the gas discharge tube 17 or tapered inner surfaces for fitting over the mouth of the gas discharge tube. The latter may be tapered internally or externally. The nozzles may be formed by cutting tapered holes in the nozzle member; the tapered holes may extend only partly through the nozzle member, the remainder being bored to different diameters. The burner shown in Fig. 2 comprises a circular base plate 2 having a recess accommodating a plate 1 screwed to a bench. The base plate 2 is rotatable on the plate 1 and is secured in set position by a pin 7 which is a push fit in a hole in the base plate and in a series of circularly disposed holes 4 in the plate 1. The main body 11 of the burner is pivotally secured to the base plate 2 by a stud 6 on the main body 11 passing through a lug on the base plate. The main body is clamped in set position by a nut on the end of the stud. The stud and lug may be replaced by a spring loaded ball and socket joint. The main body 11 is tubular and has spigots 12, 13 for connection to oxygen and gas supply pipes. A mxing chamber 16 fits into the open upper end of the main body and has an outwardly directed flange having apertures for receiving pins 26 projecting from the main body. A gland nut 23 screws on to the upper end of the body to hold the mixing chamber therein with its lower end pressed against a washer 21 seated on an internal shoulder in the body. The oxygen enters the mixing chamber through an aperture 22 in its lower end and gas enters through apertures in the side wall. The discharge tube 17 has a side socket brazed to the top of the mixing chamber. An air pipe 33 having an adjustable jet 33a extends axially through the discharge tube 17. In a modification the base is replaced by a handgrip. In another burner having a handgrip the burner is supplied by flexible tubing with a combustible mixture from the discharge tube of the burner shown in Fig. 2.
