PURPOSE:To improve impact resistance without detriment to transparency, etc., by blending an ethylene/alpha-olefin random copolymer having specified properties with 4-methyl-1-pentene polymer. CONSTITUTION:Ethylene and an alpha-olefin such as propylene or 1-butene are copolymerized in the presence of a catalyst consisting of a soluble vanadium compd. and an organoaluminum compd. to prepare an ethylene/alpha-olefin random copolymer having an ethylene content of 30-85mol%, a number-average MW of 300-5,000, a ratio of weight-average MW to number-average MW of 3 or below, a m.p. of 100 deg.C or below as measured by a differential scanning calorimeter and fusion energy of 0-5cal/g. 2-15wt% said copolymer is blended with 4-methyl-1- pentene polymer to obtain the desired polymethylpentene compsn. |
