An annular gap 16 is provided between a shaft 4 rotating about its geometric axis YY and the inner cylindrical wall 8 of a ring gear 7 rotating about its geometric axis XX which is off centre relative to the shaft 4. Two rollers 14, 37 are interposed between the shaft and the ring gear. The rollers 14, 37 have a radially compressible plastic casing 21 on their perimeters. Furthermore, the pins 29 of the rollers 14, 37 are mounted in slideways 32 carried on a fixed framework 23. On the wide side of the gap 16, the slideways 32 are delimited by stops 33. The device is used to make a reduction gear with rollers operate in both rotational directions and independently to adjust the maximum torque which can be transmitted in the two directions. <IMAGE>
