PURPOSE:To facilitate disposition, maintenance and inspection of a cooling installation, etc. by combining casting mold blocks from a horizontal direction in forming casting spaces. CONSTITUTION:When a molten steel 17 is continuously charged from a nozzle 19 to the opening end on the start point side of the continuous casting spaces 16 formed by an arraying line 12, the molten steel is conveyed in an arrow (g) direction according to the movement of casting mold blocks 10, and a cast billet 17a solidified on at least the outside surface is taken from the opening end on the end point side, by which a cast billet 17a is formed. The block 10 is conveyed via conveying routes 13, 14 after the block is used for casting in the line 12. The conveyed block is upset in the midway and is returned to the start point for casting. Therefore the casting is accomplished by the first one surface A and thereafter the casting is performed by the rear surface B thereof, so that the casting surfaces formed on both surfaces A and B are uniformly used. The temp. distribution is thus made uniform with the consequent decrease in the thermal stress and strain and the wear on the casting surfaces is decreased and the life is extended. |
