PURPOSE:To ensure the washing work to separate anion- and cation-exchange resins from each other, by specifying the central value of distribution in the particle size each of the anion- and cation-exchange resins in such a manner that the central value of the anion-exchange resin is made smaller than that of the cation-exchange resin. CONSTITUTION:The central value of distribution in the particle size of anion- exchange resin is held at 420-600mum, while the central value of distribution in the particle size of cation-exchange resin is held at 500-700mum to make the difference between the central values of said two resins larger above about 50mum. Each of the anion- and cation-exchange resins is sequentially sorted by sieves having apertures of 1,190mum, 1,000mum, 840mum, 710mum, 590mum, 500mum, 420mum, 350mum and 297mum. The total of left-overs is plotted on a logarithmico- normal probability sheet, and the geometric normal deviation of a straight line obtd. by the method of least squares from the plots corresponding to three screen openings where the amounts of leftovers are large is made above 1.3. Hence, the particle size of the resin can be made smaller to obtain condensed water of higher purity. |
