An electrical coil is proposed, which is intended primarily to be the ignition coil of an internal-combustion engine. This coil has an insulating body (2) which, on a tubular section (3), carries a winding (1) which is supported at the sides by means of at least two flanges (4 and 4' respectively). The winding (1) together with the insulating body (2) has cast resin (5) cast around it. In the present case, the insulating body (2) is provided on its tubular section (3) and/or on at least one of its flanges (4 or 4' respectively) with recesses (7) which lead to the outer enveloping surface of the tubular section (3). In consequence, when the cast resin is being cast around, said cast resin also reaches the turns of the winding (1) which are adjacent to the outer enveloping surface of the tubular section (3). <IMAGE>
