PURPOSE:To minimize the time-dependent variation of the effective voltage impressed to a plate glass, by controlling the DC voltage impressed to the plate as a potential of the cathode or anode with respect to the reference electrode or as a potential between two reference electrode. CONSTITUTION:The cell 15 having the bottom plate glass 14 furnished with the mask 16 for the preparation of a flat macro-lens and having opened part is set in the porcelain boat 10 containing the anode 11 and the first salt 12. The cathode 17 and the reference electrode 18 are put in the cell 15, the second salt 21 is charged into the cell 15, the whole assembly is set in an electric furnace, and the atmosphere is substituted with Ar. The DC source 22 is connected to the lead wires 13, 19, and the voltmeter 23 is connected to the lead wires 13, 20. The temperature in the furnace is raised to melt the salt, and the output voltage of the source 22 is adjusted to give the voltmeter indication of several V/mm.. The metallic ion in the molten salt is implanted through the opened part of the mask 16 into the glass 14 by this process.
