PURPOSE:To intensify squish flow while to reduce production of smoke due to counter-squish, by providing a lip projecting upward on the circumference of cavity made in the top face of piston while making slit inclining in the direction of swirl in the lip. CONSTITUTION:A cavity is formed in the top of piston 11 while a lip 13 is projected upward along the circumference of said cavity 12. A recess 17 to be fitted with the lip 13 is made at the portion facing the lip 13 at the inner face of cylinder head 16. A plurality of slits 18 inclining in the direction of swirl are made in the lip 13. Near the end of compression stroke of piston 11, squish flow will advance through the slit 18 into the cavity 12 to promote mixing of fuel and air. Consequently squish can be intensified to reduce production of smoke due to counter-squish. |
