The coupling device for an animal leash has a rigid coupling part to be fixed to the animal and a hook which can be actuated by means of a sliding sleeve. The hook has a main piece on which a first locking arm is arranged. Furthermore, a second locking arm is mounted by articulation on the main piece to be pivotable about a pivot pin. In the closed position of the sliding sleeve, this pivot pin is under the sliding sleeve. The two locking arms each have recessed areas of matching design in the form of a half-solid of rotation and form a cavity which is accessible from the free end of the locking arms via grooves of the locking arms which lie opposite each other.
