PURPOSE:To improve the stability of guaiazulene to light or oxygen in air, in a dentifrice containing guaiazulene and/or its sulfonate effective for the remedy and prevention of oral diseases, by compounding the dentifrice with an aluminum salt. CONSTITUTION:The objective dentifrice contains (A) guaiazulene and/or its sulfonate represented by the formula [R is H or SO3M (M is alkali metal or alkaline earth metal), especially H, SO3Na or SO3K] and (B) an aluminum salt, especially aluminum lactate or aluminum phosphate. The amounts of the components (A) and (B) are preferably 0.01-2.0wt% and 0.1-0.5wt%, respectively. The azulene compound in the dentifrice is stable to light and oxygen. The azulene compound has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-bacterial, and tissue regenerating activities, and is effective especially for the remedy and prevention of stomatitis, cheilitis, peridontitis, etc. |
