PURPOSE:To easily change a ship body to a new one, by removing the deck and outside plating of the old ship body to expose a tank, fitting the tank with cross bulkheads for the new ship body, floating the tank, towing it into the hold of the new ship body, and securing the tank therein. CONSTITUTION:The deck and outside plating of an old ship body 1 are removed on the sea to expose tanks 2. The tanks are then fitted with cross bulkheads 4 for a new ship body 3. The old ship body 1 is half submerged to float the tanks 2 on the sea. The new ship body 3 open at one end is half submerged on the sea to tow the tanks 2 into the hold 5 of the new ship body. The new ship body 3 is then floated to place the tanks 2 on the floor 5a of the hold 5 and conjoin them at necessary portions. The body of a transport ship with a separate tank can thus be easily changed for a new one.
