PURPOSE:To manufacture continuously the titled glass free from flaws, foreign matter and bends by drawing out molten glass in rod shape from a crucible through a tension roll, and cutting the solidified part with a heat cutter. CONSTITUTION:Molten glass in a crucible 2 is drawn up in rod shape by driving rollers 10 and 11. When the tip hits a limit switch 17, a lift 42 is lifted up, and an electric current is supplied to a heat cutter provided to the lift 42 to heat the cutter at a temp. higher than the softening point of glass. Then the heated cutter is pushed against the solidified part of a glass 6, and the glass is cut. Thereafter, the lift 42 is lifted down to be on stand-by. The cut glass rod 6 is lifted up in a frame body 20. When the rod hits a limit switch 18, the frame body 20 is moved toward a receiving body 23 by the action of a cylinder 21, and the rod is transferred to the receiving body. The rod-shaped glass of high quality, free from flaws on the surface of the product, foreign matter therein, and bends etc., is manufactured continuously.
