The automatic cleaning of reflectors on road reflector posts takes place by the actuation of a vertically mounted pivotable plate which is arranged on the reflector post and guides a cleaning member similar to a windscreen wiper over the reflector. The actuation of the plate takes place by gusts of wind such as arise as a result of air displacements at the roadside when fast or large-volume motor vehicles pass the road reflector posts.
