A hingedly attached face plate shieldingly protects a key deposited within a key storage compartment in the lock box. Variants of the lock box accommodate conventional cam locks or shielded padlocks for locking the face plate in place. The lock box is attached to a mounting surface by normally inaccessible fasteners.
