PURPOSE:To obtain a variable crown roll excellent in its rigidity and its sealing properties against fluid pressure by setting the surface pressure of shrinkage fitting and the ratio of inner and outer diameters of a sleeve to specific values, in a variable crown roll provided with a fluid introducing annular clearance between its arbor body and its sleeve fitted to the body by shrinkage fitting. CONSTITUTION:A sleeve 2 for a variable crown roll is fixed to an arbor body 1A by shrinkage fitting it at both ends of the body 1A, and a fluid introducing annular clearnace 3 is formed between the inner surface of sleeve 2 and the body 1A in order to change the amount of crown, and a liquid is forced into the clearance 3 through an axially introducing port 5 and a radially introducing port 6 to change the amount of crown of the sleeve 2, thereby the thickness of a steel sheet to be rolled is made uniform. In this case, the surface pressure in shrinkage fitting the sleeve 2 is made larger than the maximum running pressure of the fluid to be fored into by 0.5-3.35kgf/mm.<2>, and the inner diameter of sleeve 2 is made to be 0.6-0.8 the outer diameter of it. |
