The antibiotic FR-02A has the formula <IMAGE> It is obtained by cultivating the microorganism Streptomyces lactamdurans. It can be extracted from the nutrient liquid using a polar organic solvent which is immiscible with water, and from the solids using a polar organic solvent. The resulting antibiotic FR-02A is active against Gram-positive and against Gram-negative bacteria. It can be used both for controlling infections and as growth promoter in livestock. |
