<p>836,236. Determining positions photo-electrically. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO. Inc. April 26, 1957 [April 27, 1956], No. 13351/57. Class 40 (3). [Also in Group XXXV] To determine the position of a light spot 10 e.g. on a cathode-ray tube 40, horizontal and vertical line images thereof are projected by cylindrical lenses 11, 31 on to code plates 12, 32, the light passing through non-opaque areas arranged according to a binary code and being directed through bars 13-15, 33-35 of lightdirecting material on to photo-cells 16-18, 36-38. The position of the light spot 10 may be determined by addresses applied to input registers 43, 43<1> and through analogue converters 44, 44<1> to the deflection plates of the tube 40. The outputs of the photo-cells are applied to comparison circuits 41, 41<1> and the results of tne comparisons are applied as a correction through amplifiers 46, 46<1>. Specifications 663,872, 789,660, 828,862, 836,234, 836,235 and 836,237 are referred to.</p> |
