<p>A novel poly(vinylidene fluoride) film and a process for making it. The film has superior dielectric constants that were available prior to this invention only in beta-phase poly(vinylidene fluoride) film. Such film is particularly useful as the dielectric component in wound capacitors (Fig. 4). The preferred process of the invention (M, 70, Y, w) features stretching the poly(vinylidene fluoride) film, while in a molten condition, by an amount that is effective to reduce the film thickness to a value no greater than about 1/50th the original thickness. </p> |
