Cladding element (7) for the outer façade of a building, made by extrusion of plastic material, particularly vinyl polychloride, and comprising a central band (10) edged on each side with a flange (11, 12) as well as connection means susceptible of connecting two adjacent cladding elements. Said connection means are arranged on each of the flanges and are comprised of at least one ratchet blade (15) cooperating with a ratchet blade (15') of the adjacent elements (7', 7'') to be connected to said element (7). The cladding element of which the outer face of the central band may be embossed by passing it through an apparatus provided after the extrusion means is usable for the feather-edged cladding of said façade.
