PURPOSE:To double substantially the usable length of a magnetic tape by the constitution that a recording switching means capable of changing the recording position to the magnetic tape is provided and additional recording is attained on a guard band of an already recorded tape on which normal recording is applied. CONSTITUTION:In recording additionally on a tape already recorded, changeover switches 14-18 are switched to a circuit system for additional recording by depressing a selecting pushbutton 13. Then, a full erasing head 1 and a sound erasing head 4 are brought into the OFF state and video heads 2, 3 and an audio head 5 are adjusted so that each signal is recorded on the position of additional recording tracks 8', 7'. Thus, the video signal and the sound signal after recording on a magnetic tape 10 are not erased, a video signal is recorded on a guard band, i.e., the video track 8', the sound signal is recorded on the audio track 7' by the audio head 5, and a control signal 91' is recorded so as to be recorded midway between already recorded conrol signals 91 respectively. |
