PURPOSE:To prevent the working interruption of an OCR device system due to a non-input state of a terminal which is generated by the absence of an operator. CONSTITUTION:If the data read by an OCR1 is unreadable, an OCR controller 2 sends the original (scan) pattern of the unreadable character within a pattern buffer 4 to an idle correcting terminal 5 for display. While the controller 2 monitors the terminal 5 and sends again the transmitted rejection pattern to another terminal 5 in case a detector 6 is transmitting a signal showing the interruption of the input given from an operator. Then the controller 2 gives a request for the processing of the rejected pattern. This prevents the working interruption of an OCR device which is due to the absence of the operator.
