Devices for heat exchange which have, in a heat exchanger shell, heat exchanger tubes arranged next to and above one another and subject to the transverse flow of a heat exchanger medium are difficult to access in the event of tube breakages or for undertaking cleaning measures. The invention provides to combine the heat exchanger tubes 14 by groups into tube stacks 15, to support the latter in transverse webs 12, and to force-guide the transverse webs 12 in the heat exchanger shell 3 in the longitudinal direction of the heat exchanger tubes 14. It is possible in this way for the individual tube stacks 15 to be drawn out from and reintroduced into the heat exchanger shell 3 like a drawer. <IMAGE>
