BENZAZEPINE DERIVATIVES

RAN 4008/320 There are presented pyrazolobenzazepines of the formulas and wherein R1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl; R2 and R3 are hydrogen, lower alkyl, hydroxy C2 to C7 alkyl, C2 to C7 carboxylic acid esters and amides or the group COR11 wherein R11 is alkoxy, amino or monolower alkyl amino; R6 is nitro or halo having an atomic number not greater than 35, R5 is hydrogen or halo having an atomic number not greater than 35 and n is 0 or 1 and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. These pyrazolobenzazepines are useful as anxiolytic and sedative aqents. Also provided are processes and intermediates in the production of the above pyrazolobenzazepines.
