A convertible chair is described, having a seat cushion which can be pulled out forwards into the lying position, and having a support device which is preferably located in the rear region of the furniture frame, is adjustable into its position of rest by moving out the seat cushion, is provided, in particular, on each side of the seat cushion, and with which at least one further cushion can be supported, which supplements the lying surface, formed by the moved-out seat cushion, towards the rear. In the convertible chair, the support device can be adjusted or raised when the seat cushion is pulled out from a lowered, lower position into a raised, upper support position for the further cushion, e.g. a separate insert cushion or a cushion which can be adjusted into the lying surface and is attached pivotably to the seat cushion, to a cushion, which is linked pivotably to the seat cushion, to a seat carriage bearing the seat cushion, or to the furniture frame.
