A transport roller and the like which can be converted into a cart has for this purpose one or two extendable grip members which are provided telescopically on one or two side members of the frame and can also have a common grip rod which is connected with a joint to a final sliding element which can be pulled out at the end of the member with the grip against a stop in such a way that the grip can be swivelled with respect to the member.
