A lighting fixture, in particular for luminous advertising, luminous shapes, luminous information and the like is proposed, which for the purpose of shaping the elements of images and words in the manner of a neon tube in conjunction with a design that is simple in terms of production engineering supports a covering hood having at least one bulge which projects outwards from the surface of said hood, the dimension of the projection being approximately equal to the width of the bulge. The bulge is of one piece with the covering hood and forms in its axial extent a contour or part-contour of an element of an image or word. With the exception of the bulge, the covering hood is provided at least in the region of the illumination by the light source with a strongly light-blocking to light-tight layer.
