The invention relates to a device for the sorting of perforated paper, which contains a rail and pilot pins attached thereto at the same distance apart as the perforations in the paper and being insertable into sequencing sleeves of the lifting mechanism of a file for document collections, and is characterised in that the pilot pins have a diametral offset at the collar of the sequencing sleeves, that the pilot pins are bent in a hoop- or horseshoe-shaped manner, and that they have different lengths at their thin ends which are insertable into the sequencing sleeves. Advantageously, a sorting operation with additions to or replacements of documents in a document collection can be carried out easily and in a trouble-free manner without the documents already threaded sliding away in an uncontrolled manner and having to be re-threaded, and without it being possible for damage to be caused to the paper perforation.
