ELASTICALLY SUPPORTED THRUSTER STRUCTURE

The propeller thruster installation comprises a propeller unit (1) rigidly supported in an inner tunnel tube (2) which in its turn is elastically coaxially supported in an outer tunnel tube (6) which is rigidly secured to the hull (8) of the ship. In order to reduce the transmission of noise and vibrations from the propeller unit to the interior of the ship the annulus (7) between the outer and inner tunnel tubes is filled with elastic gas cushions (12), or a continuously maintained "bubble curtain" (12, 22) of air.
