<p>PURPOSE:To attain a high-quality reduced picture, by leading out a numerical value S for determination of a new sampled value from a prescribed equation and comparing the value of the attained numerical value with a threshold T and setting the new sampled value to ''1'' in case of S>=T and setting the new sampled value to ''0'' in case of S<T. CONSTITUTION:When a new sampled point psition (Xp, Yq) is included in an area A1, three determined numerical values W1, W2, and W3 (W1>=W2>=W3) are used to determine the numerical value S in accordance with an equation S= W1.G(k, l)+W2.G(K+1, l)+W2.G(K, l+1)+W3.G(K+1, l+1). In this equation, G(i, j) indicates original sampled value ''0'' or ''1'' placed in the i-th row and the j-th column. the numerical value S is compared with the preliminarily determined threshold T, and the new sampled value is set to ''1'' in case of S>=T, and the new sampled value is set to ''0'' in case of S<T. Thus, black information included in the original picture is prevented from being lost in the reduced picture.</p> |
