A clamping circuit for video signals, with a controlled switch (SW) for applying the clamping voltage to a clamping capacitor (CK), the video signal being supplied to the clamping capacitor (CK) via a filter (Fl) which is transparent to synchronisation pulses, a higher-frequency component of the video signal being conducted via a further capacitor (CB) and being combined with the voltage present across the clamping capacitor, and a timing circuit (ST) being provided which applies a constant clamping voltage to the clamping capacitor whilst the colour burst (FB) occurs. <IMAGE>
