<p>A laminate web, for conversion into a container for i.e. reactive or corrosive products, is produced from aluminium foil and an extrusion coating of an ethylene/acrylic acid-type copolymer. A polyacrylic acid chromium complex primer is applied to the foil before the copolymer, to enhance the bond at the interface. The laminate web will usually be formed into a tube with the copolymer disposed on the product facing side, and can advantageously be used to package fluoride toothpastes. The foil/primer/copolymer is a subcombination of the packaging web: to the face of the foil opposite the primer and copolymer, other structural layers such as polyethylene and paper are bonded.</p> |
