The alarm system has an automatic ring-up function from a transmitter via connections in a telephone system to a receiver. The transmitter can be programmed with its own identification number which, during transmission, it sends to the receiver. The transmitter incorporates an accumulator for reserve operation if the mains (220V) fails, or if any other fault occurs in the current supply. The battery capacity is such that it can cope with 3-4 hours mains down time. - When the battery voltage is less than a predetermined level, a battery alarm is transmitted automatically to the receiver, causing service personnel to be summoned. After the alarm has been transmitted and acknowledged the transmitter reverts to a low current usage mode to ensure that the battery capacity lasts as long as possible.
