PURPOSE:To elevate the accuracy of the detection display value of a fuel for a vehicle by displaying the liquid level area highest in the frequency of appearance to be determined as the residue of a fuel among those involving the value of a detection signal being updated. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer 30 reads in a signal of a liquid level sensor 10 repeatedly four times to determine an arithmetical mean, which is decided as initial value Q128 and inputs a sampling value q129 to compute a weighted mean Q129 based on the formula after a sampling cycle T elapses. It is determined to which of the first - (j)th value areas predetermined corresponding to the liquid level area the value Q129 belongs to update counts of the corresponding counter and the weighted mean Q129 is set as P129. The computation is repeated and when the sum of counts reaches a specified number N, one of the first -(j)th value areas is selected in relation to the maximum of the counts and decided as the residue of the fuel, which is indicated on a bar display 50. |
