A vertically adjustable table, in particular for video workstations, with a table top and a table frame with at least one table column having an upright column outer tube and a column inner tube telescoping therein with a vertical-adjustment device for the column inner tube supporting the table top. On the inside, the column inner tube has a toothed rack and a longitudinal slot. At least one pinion arranged in the column inner tube on a bearing shaft meshes with the toothed rack, the bearing shaft being mounted in the column outer tube and being passed through the longitudinal slot into the column inner tube. An easy-running action is thereby obtained for the telescoping column inner tube. In addition, a release linkage can be mounted in the column inner tube next to the toothed rack. The release linkage works on at least one pawl in the column inner tube, in the course of which the pawl comes with a locking tooth out of its column inner tube and drops into locking recesses in the column outer tube in accordance with the vertical adjustment and can also be disengaged from the locking recesses by actuation of the release linkage. <IMAGE>
