933,561. Electric tests. K. LADENDORF, E. LADENDORF, W. LADENDORF, P. LADENDORF, E. LADENDORF, and K. F. LADENDORF, [trading as BRAN & LUBBE KOMM.-GES.]. Jan. 1, 1960 [Jan. 2, 1959], No. 121/60. Class 37. Pairs of electrodes 12 are inserted at different levels in an ion-exchange mass 11 to monitor the condition of the mass, a low voltage D.C. source 15, below the decomposition level of water, being connected through a measuring and recording milliammeter 17 intermittently for short periods of time, a short period being defined as short in relation to the duration of the ion-exchange process, e.g. 30 seconds every 10-30 minutes, and a selector switch 14 being provided to give access to the desired electrode pair. The electrodes may be introduced laterally into the tank or secured to a support rod dipped into the tank. The mass may be beads of styrene, interlaced with divinyl benzene into which sulphonic acid groups have been introduced, a condensation polymer skeleton containing partially anchored amines, or a mixture of an acid material as first named with a basic material comprising styrene and dimethyl-benzyl-ethylammoniumhydroxide. Graphs showing conductances during work cycles are described with reference to Figs. 3-11 (not shown). |
