The building block comprises a solid body with a system of narrow slits arranged therein. However, the provision of parallel slits adversely affects the transverse tensile strength of the building block body. Therefore, it is intended to create in the building block body a system of slits which both ensures good hardening of a solid block body produced by extrusion or in a formwork mould and does not adversely affect the transverse tensile strength of the block body. The slits are in this case profiled in cross form and distributed over the block body in a reticular manner, producing the advantage that zones (webs) of increased strength are formed in a criss-crossing manner between the slits and ensure a high load-bearing strength of the block body.
