In a construction kit to form a shelf element (1), having side walls (2, 3), a bottom (4), a lid (5) and a rear wall (6), a solution is to be provided, with which a furniture element, in particular a shelf element, can be formed without the assistance of conventional attachment techniques, as is known in the prior art, i.e. without screws, gluing and the like, in which case it is to be avoided that connection strips made of plastic or the like remain visible. This is achieved in that the side walls (2, 3) have on at least one side two parallel flash grooves (9) starting from the rear edge (8), in that the bottom (4) and the top (5) are provided on both sides with a flash corresponding to the flash groove (9), in that a groove (11) formed from the lower edge (10) up to the top groove is provided near to the rear edge (8) to receive the rear wall (6), and in that a groove (18) is provided in the rear narrow side (19) of the bottom (4), and in that an angle strip (7) can be inserted in said groove (18) to fix all the parts of the construction kit when they have been joined together. <IMAGE>
