A COMBINATION OF A HOUSING A FASTENING MEMBER AND A BEARING OUTER RACE RING

A prior art bearing outer race ring of steel fitted in a bore of a housing of aluminium will become loose as a result of thermal expansion. To prevent the above a fastening member (16) of steel has a bore into which a projection (14) of the housing of aluminium (15) extends as an interference fit. The bearing outer race ring of steel (12) is also held as an interference fit in a second bore of the fastening member (16). Expansion of the projection (14) due to heat causes it to more firmly engage the fastening member.
