<p>PURPOSE:To improve remarkably the shape controlling capability of a tandem rolling mill by providing a taper part to the end part of work roll of the mill capable of work roll shifting and roll bending, and controlling edge drop and the distribution of surface pressure. CONSTITUTION:On the upstream side of a rolling installation capable of work roll shifting and roll bending; a taper shape with about <=2/1,000 degree of taper is provided to the end part of work roll 10 of the mill and an overlap l1 of about >=200mm. is given between the taper part of roll 10 and a rolling material 1, to level the pressure distribution P between the roll 10 end part and a backup roll 3. Next, the taper part of a roll 11 of a mill on the downstream side is overlapped with the material 1 to an extent that the material 1 causes an edge drop by its elastic deformation, to offset the amount of the elastic deformation, by providing a taper of about >=2/1,000 to the end part of the mill roll 11 and giving an overlap l2 of about <=100mm. between the roll 11 and the material 1. In this way, the shape controlling capability of the mill is improved and the edge drop can be controlled.</p> |
