PURPOSE:To obtain the temp. necessary for conversion only with the gaseous raw material by using the spacing in the inside cylinder and between the inside and outside cylinders of the converting cylinders of a gas generator using hydrocarbon and air as the raw material respectively as exothermic and endothermic reaction parts and generating two kinds of gases. CONSTITUTION:Butane and air are mixed at a prescribed mixing ratio with flowmeters 9, 7, and the mixture thereof is ignited and burned by an ignition plug 6 at a burner nozzle 5 to cause exothermic decomposition in the inside cylinder 2 of a converting cylinder, so that the conversion to increase CO and H2 useful for the heat treatment is effected with the catalyst 4 between the inside and outside cylinders 2 and 3. The butane and air are mixed in the mixing ratio for an approximately complete combustion with the flowmeters 9, 7 and are burned in the cylinder 2 in order to obtain the temp. necessary for the conversion reaction in the converting cylinder. The butane is added as additive gas to such combustion gas and is fed at the flow rate prescribed by the flowmeter 12 to the part between the cylinders 2 and 3 to reduce the H2O and CO2 in the combustion gas to H2 and CO. The converted gas is taken from a delivery pipe 16. |
