PURPOSE:To lower capacity of a photoconductive layer and to enhance dark potential and sensitivity by coating a conductive substrate with a coating liquid contg. a photoconductor and a binder together with a foaming agent and forming a photoconductive layer heat foamed and raised in voids. CONSTITUTION:A coating material is prepared by mixing an org. or inorg. photoconductor and 100pts.wt. binder resin based on the solid weight together with 1-10pts.wt. foaming agent having a decomposition temp. not below the softening point of the resin and not deteriorating the photoconductor within the range of amt. producing a suitable amt. of gas. A photoconductive layer is formed by coating a conductive substrate, drying, and thermally decomposing the foaming agent. When needed, a thin insulating layer made of polyolefin or the like is formed on the photoconductive layer. Thus, the photoconductive layer is raised in voids and in sensitivity, i.e. the difference between dark potential and light potential. |
