<p>PURPOSE:In modification of methanol with steam, to improve reaction yield of methanol and durability of a catalyst, by making ethanol concentration of fed raw material <= a specific value. CONSTITUTION:A raw material having ethanol concentration <=C value (preferably, <=C' value shown by the formula II) shown by the formula I (it is maximum temperature of reactor) is used. Namely, a catalyst (e.g., catalyst of copper, chromium, and manganese oxide) is used, and methanol having the limited methanol concentration is reacted with water at 150-400 deg.C in a molar ratio of water/methanol of 1-50 at 50-50,000/hour space velocity of steam at <=50kg/ cm<2>G reaction pressure.</p> |
