The invention allows energy savings to be made in public lighting, without modifying the present electrical network. This is an electronic circuit which is placed in the chosen lamppost; this circuit is a receiver which is controlled by a frequency carried by the electrical network. This frequency is given by the transmitter which is itself set into operation by the hourly and weekly breaker switch in order to choose and carry out its programme for turning off and turning on the lighting circuit. The transmitter comprises two stabilised supplies 1, a high-frequency oscillator 2, a filter 3, an hourly and weekly breaker switch 4, and two monostable delay timers 5. The receiver includes a stabilised supply 6, three high-pass filters 7, a pre-amplifier, amplifier stage 8, a bistable delay timer 9 and a power interface between the circuit and the circuit of the lamppost 10. <IMAGE>
