For lifting the upper transparent sheet of mounting compartments which are open on three sides to hold flat articles, for example postage stamps, and consist of two plastic films of equal size bonded together without folding, along one longitudinal edge, a ruler is used which is designed as a V-shaped wedge, the V-shaped wedge (9) consisting of two wings (15, 16), at least one of which has an extension (15'), and the common edge of the two wings and/or the free end (18) of the wing (15) being provided with an oblique portion (10) for the reliable insertion of the ruler between the plastic films.
