The invention relates to an item of convertible furniture in the form of a cabinet which can be used, on the one hand, as a folding table and, on the other hand, as a bunk bed. Belonging to the elements of the folding table are two boards 9, 16 which are connected to one another via hinges 15 and each have support legs 8 and 17 respectively and catches 19 and 20 respectively. In the position of rest, the catches are each recessed into the support legs, the latter being recessed into the associated board or being conceived as part of a fitted-on sill. All the parts belonging to the table can be accommodated in a special receiver 23 in the door 3 at the front of the furniture, to which door one board is attached via hinges. The lower bed 26 of the bunk beds is attached laterally by its head end to the front frame of the furniture and is supported at its foot end by folding feet 29. The upper bed 33 slides at its head end via rollers 37 in vertical rails 38, its movement being limited by stops 40 and it being held otherwise by arms 39 and support legs 32. The latter engage in receivers which are formed by the hinges 30 for the support feet 29 of the bed 26 situated below. Latches 41 are provided to secure the position of use. The weight is otherwise compensated during unfolding and collapsing with the aid of regulators 28 and handling is thus facilitated. <IMAGE>
