PURPOSE:To improve the operability of a receiver which transmits the name of a receiving broadcasting station by determining an area by the combination of frequencies at which channel selections are made successively by automatic tuning and a comparative decision. CONSTITUTION:When an operation switch 3 is operated in order to set the name of an automatic broadcasting station, a muting circuit 5 operates to inhibit the transmission of a regeneration output from an electric tuner 1. Then, a frequency f0 at which reception is performed at present is stored in the memory 20 in a microcomputer 2 and automatic tuning is carried on to store reception frequencies in the memory 20 successively. When the frequency f0 is detected by making one round of a reception band, the automatic tuning operation is stopped and a decision on the area is made on the basis of the combination of the stored reception frequency to set the name of a broadcasting station corresponding to a reception frequency suitable for the area. |
