PURPOSE:To improve the thermal efficiency in a furnace when molten iron is recarburized and refined chiefly with top blown oxygen, by regulating the ratio of the area of a fire spot/the surface area of the bath and the temp. of the molten iron during the blowing of gaseous oxygen to prescribed values. CONSTITUTION:When molten iron is refined in a furnace by blowing oxygen from the top while blowing a gaseous substance from the bottom after adding a carbonaceous material, the ratio of the area of a fire spot/the surface area of the bath (the percentage of the area S of gaseous oxygen spouted from a lance hole and projected on the surface of the bath during blowing in the surface area Ls of the bath) is regulated to >=0.3. The temp. of the molten iron during decarburization refining with gaseous oxygen is controlled to <=1,500 deg.C. A reaction generating the largest quantity of heat is caused during decarburization refining, and the thermal efficiency in the furnace is improved. |
