The method of regulation applies to a cooling system intended for the production of cold and heat. The compressor 3 is controlled simultaneously by the heating and cooling loads, with priority given to the greatest load. A first three-way modulating valve 17 controlled by a regulator 16 provides, in the primary circuit upstream from the compressor 3, for the distribution of the coolant fluid between an evaporator using cold 7 and an evaporator discharging cold 8.
